up to £41.58 per hour Umbrella company in line with ADSS pledge
Initial 3 month contract with potential to extend
A West Glamorgan Council are looking for an experienced and dedicated Conference Chair and Independent Reviewing Officer to join their long established and well-regarded Reviewing Service. The post is for a full time candidate offering an ASAP start. The post will require covering an initial 3 month contract with potential to extend due to vacant positions on the permanent structure. This role offers hybrid working with a requirement of on-site working 3 days per week. On site work is mandatory on a Wednesday due to team meetings. Pay rate for this role is £41.88 per hour payrolled via Umbrella company or £33 PAYE equivalent (plus holidays paid out on top).
The successful individual will be expected to Chair CP Conferences and CLA Reviews, and the ideal candidate will possess highly developed specialist knowledge of social work practice in Children's Services and have experience of chairing meetings of a challenging nature and child protection within the court arena.
Main Responsibilities:
- The successful candidate will carry a caseload, chair Child Protection Conferences and Looked After Children review meetings and develop outcome focused plans in accordance with the Children Act 1989; The Social Services and Well-being (Wales) Act 2014; the Care Planning, Placement and Case Review (Wales) Regulations 2015 and 2016; the Children and Adoption Act 2002, Children Leaving Care Act 2000 and Children Act 2004. The successful candidates will also be expected to adhere to the Practice Standards and Good Practice Guide issued by Welsh Government and AFA Cymru: Reviewing and Monitoring of a Child or Young Person's Part 6 Care and Support Plan.
- The service provides a quality assurance role across Children’s and Young People’s Services and is responsible for monitoring all looked after children and young people, children who are placed for adoption, and young people who are subject to Pathway reviews.
- To provide consultation to the wider service and partner agencies on practice issues within the team’s areas of expertise, including child protection procedures, safeguarding children, children looked after, vulnerable children and permanency and care planning.
Requirements of the Conference Chair/Independent Reviewing Officer:
- Degree or equivalent in social work
- Current Social Care Wales registration
- IRO experience and signs of safety experience
