Background
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a HR Advisor to join the HR team at Hugh James.
Based in our head office in Cardiff, the successful candidate will provide HR support across all UK sites, including London, Manchester, Southampton and Plymouth.
The role
The role would suit an HR Assistant who is ready to take the next step in their career. Working within a team of HR Advisors, you will be responsible for operational HR tasks and recruitment.
The role will involve:
- Giving advice and guidance to line managers and department heads in relation to HR policies and procedures
- Undertaking all stages of the recruitment process for various support and legal roles, to include: drafting person specifications, job descriptions and adverts; placing adverts; liaising and negotiating with agencies; conducting interviews and co-ordinating the selection process
- Proactively assist in managing the HR inboxes
- Conducting meetings with employees to include induction checklists, probationary reviews, flexible working requests and family leave
- Assist in firm wide absence management to include, reporting on levels of absence and conducting meetings for early stages of the absence management process
- Welcoming new recruits on their first day and being involved in their onboarding to ensure that they settle into the firm
- Collating and reporting of management information
- Assist senior members of the HR team with grievance or disciplinary procedures
- Attend university career fair events in various locations
- Travel to other offices
Required Experience/ Skills
The successful candidate will have recruitment experience. They will have taken the lead in all aspects of the recruitment process for a wide variety of roles.
An understanding of employment legislation and how this translates into practice is required.
Effective persuasiveness and negotiation skills are key to this role.
Good IT skills, ideally to include HR systems, are required coupled with effective and professional communication skills, both written and verbal.
CIPD level 5 as a minimum or the equivalent in knowledge and experience.
